How do I give texture to my pin-straight hair?

My hair is very very straight, and I hate it. Even if I sleep on it wet in a weird way it stays straight. Curlers don't do anything to it, and i don't like the way curling irons make it look. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to use to give it a lot of texture and make it look somewhat wavy?

Layers, layers and more layers. Mine is the same way. It also has a hard time taking to a curling iron, curlers and chemical perms. Some people just have hair like that. I just layered mine myself and it has a lot more movement and life to it. I don't recommend you doing it yourself though, unless you know what you're doing. But you'll have to wash it everyday to keep the movement and style. Even sleeping on my layers I wake up with flattened hair and not much dimension.

Btw: curling shampoos don't actually curl your hair. And from my experience they've never worked. What they do is help your hair to curl easier when you use a curling iron or rollers, again...my hair has always fell flat even when doing both of those. Neither have volumizing or thickening shampoos. And I'm talking about salon products, not store bought.

Maybe try some of those curling shampoos that are supposed to make your hair curly... they might do something

What you need is a blinkin' good cut. See the best hairdresser you can afford and get a really great cut - it's the only way you won't spend your whole life fussing and pharting around with your hair and missing out on your life! I know, I did it!

Plait it when its wet and sleep on it

texture has a lot to do with the cut of your hair. If you want texture you should look into getting some kind of "layered" haircut.

Use conditioner after you wash it, and let it stay in your hair at least five minutes before rinsing it out. Blow drying your hair will give it body, but can damage your hair over time. I let mine air dry, and use a brush after that. Try this and see if it works for you.

use a volumeising shampoo and some really strong hairspray that sould work. If you use your straighteners to curl it its better than curling irons. Gives it more of a wave than a curl.

When you get out of the shower, blow dry your hair and use texture hair gels.

If i was u i would try getting loads of choppy layers though it it take the weight out. and then try using Velcro rollers foe body an a wave with a light mist of hair spray at the root.

Take a shower in the evening, then when your hair is about 80% dry, twist it up into a bun (for looser waves), or into two french braids (for crimpier waves), then sleep on it, take it down in the morning, then run your fingers through it to separate the waves. If your hair really stubbornly refuses to take to the waves, try putting some styling cream or mousse in your hair before putting it into a bun or braids.

This works even on my mom, who has stick-straight asian hair. Curlers would slide right out of her hair because it was so straight and smooth.

When your hair is wet, french braid, or regularly braid it. Then hairspray it. Or apply curling gel to it and then hairspray and let it airdry
