Part of my hair is natrually stick straight, part of it is natrually curly. What do I do?

I want a wash and go style. If I leave my hair straight I need to straighten it and pray that it does not rain. If I curl it it just takes a lot of time. I used to get my hair permed or relaxed, however, it fried my hair so bad that I needed to have it all cut off.

Ideas?

Part of my hair is natrually stick straight, part of it is natrually curly. What do I do?

I've run in to this situation too many times to count over the years. More times than not, when people get up from the chair, they are amazed at what their hair just did.

Product is such a big issue when working with natural curl. Here's what I'd recommend:

After you've towel blotted your hair after the shower, run a firm but moveable gel THOROUGHLY through your hair. Scalp to ends. Don't be afraid of using too much provided you have a good gel that doesn't flake. (There are also some professional companies that have come out with serums to help enhance curl.) More times than not, people can't get this trick to work because they don't put in ENOUGH product.

After you've applied your product. Scrunch your hair....(think of crunching crackers in your soup! LOL) paying particular attention to the straight area of your hair, and using a blow dryer on low air, with your head upside down, wad a handful of hair starting at the ends, and wad/scrunch the strand up to the scalp. Apply the nozzel of your hairdryer into the middle of your hand with the scrunched hair in it. Methodically work your way all through your hair with the wad/scrunch/dry method. Once your hair is about 90% dry, flip your hair right side up and continue to finish the style. You will be amazed if the technique is done correctly. If your blower is a bit forceful, even on low air, use a diffuser on the nozzel to cut the force of the air flow. This will keep the ends from separating and looking "frizzy". What you'll get is a nice blend with definite looking shaped curls/waves/ringlets. The straight hair will have some bend to it, or if it ends up not being quite enough, take your curling iron and WITHOUT opening up the barrel, just take a 1/2 inch strand of hair and wrap it around the barrel in a spiral fashion. Do pieces here and there in your straighter area, and you should get a nice blend, and won't be able to tell that you're part straight and part curly.

I've had people utterly amazed that their straight hair actually looked curly doing the above method. Be patient...give it longer than 5 mintues, and don't expect the cheapie Walmart gels to work. You need to use some decent stuff to really get the effect you want. You need good hold, with moveability, shine, no crunch, and no flakes!

Good luck! Hope this helps!

I know this seems like a lot to do, but technically, it should take maybe 7-10 minutes. If your hair is fairly short, you could probably do it in 5 minutes. It's not bad at all once you get in the routine of it! Report It

You should try using a curling creme for on the go hairdo like pantenes to get rid of the frizz but add curl to all of your hair. Also you could try Aussies Scrunch Spray and let it airdry.

Cut it short.Shaggy layers, have hair dresser use those scissors that look like teeth. then use hair gel all messy.

Then keep it well conditioned as it grows longer.

( "enjoy", mask hair conditioner is great)

My hair is the same way it starts to get wavy just below my ear and ends around my waist in ringlets. I gave up on trying to be straight or curly. I just wash, double condition and let it dry I wear it up constantly for work so I don't put a lot of effort into style . But when I do let it down I always get a lot of compliments, and questions on what I've done to it. Just do what feels right on that day straighten, blow drying, or curling with an iron can be torture. Let your hair's natural beauty shine through.
