My hair is stick straight naturally but I have lots of fly-aways and breakage at the top of my head. So it never lays flat, and it looks like I need to brush my hair...even after I just brushed it.

Dove - their conditioner is great. Garnier Ultra Doux stuff is also pretty good. If you still have fly-aways, just dab a bit of leave-in conditioner to that area.
Also, try combing your hair with a wide-toothed wooden comb instead of brushing it.

A wooden comb is better than a plastic one - unlike plastic, wood doesn't generate static electricity (due to friction) while combing.
Also, Garnier Ultra Doux has nice wheatgerm shampoo and conditioner (for dry hair). Ultra Doux has stuff for all hair types though. Report It

apply paul mitchell skinny serum to freshly shampooed towel dry hair. blow dry and style as usual. when hair is dry you can apply paul mitchell gloss drops to smooth any fly-aways

A good cheap way to keep down fly-aways is to apply lotion like gel to the roots and the hairs that give u problems and it keeps them down without getting the hard gel effect.
