if you dont have success with a flat iron, get a blow dryer (make sure it has a diffuser on it so you dont get so many fly-away hairs) and a flat paddle brush (or a round barrel brush if you want to curl the ends.) you can brush the hair straight as you blow dry. this works for my natural waves to get them straight. i don't use anything on my hair except leave-in conditioners. sometimes i spray a little hairspray onto a natural bristle brush and go over it if its humid, that keeps any broken/fly-away hairs down.

You may want to try using a product such as "frizz ease" by john frieda, i think. You only need a dime-quarter size amount wich can be applied while hair is wet. Also, do you flat iron you hair regularly? If you have curly hair, you need to train your hair by flat ironing it on a regular basis. The more you do so, the easier it should be to keep it straight. Also make sure you are using a good flat iron to begin with!

I use a hair dryer that straightens as you dry. Its called a hot air brush, basically if you think of a round brush with a hair dryer hooked up to the end that's what you got. You can get them at Sally's and Ulta in a large selection and Walmart and Target has one or two. They make my hair soft, straight and dry in minutes. All I do is put a little bed head or something to take out the flyaways and make it shiny.
