I got a shih-tzu puppy for christmas and he has curly hair,aren't they suppose to have straight

he is not all around curly just like his ears,his face and his front paws..



I got a shih-tzu puppy for christmas and he has curly hair,aren't they suppose to have straight hair?

The hair is supposed to be straight however the fact that his hair is curly could be due to a number of things:



1. The puppy may only be pet standard. No matter how good a breeder is not every pup in a litter will fit the breed standard. It could be that your little one isn't show standard in that respect.



2. It could be that the hair will straighten out as it gets older. It's only a puppy, whilst if it's curly it'll never be totally straight the weight of it's adult coat (when it comes through) could pull the hair straighter

not neccesarily. as puppies, a lot of those (lhasa's shih's etc) are curly...
